Migration of ecommerce services and applications from an on-premise data center to the AWS Cloud

Customer Name: Bisleri

[CSP: AWS | Vertical: FMCG]

Bisleri is a leading brand of bottled water in India, known for its commitment to providing safe, pure, and high-quality drinking water. Established in 1969, the company has become a household name and a symbol of trust in hydration. The company has established a substantial presence in India, operating 150 production plants nationwide. Its extensive distribution network includes 6,000 distributors and a fleet of 7,500 distribution trucks, ensuring widespread availability of its products.

Challenge

On-premises infrastructure posed challenges such as complex and time-consuming resource management, often leading to underutilization or overprovisioning. Scaling was slow, costly, and required precise capacity forecasting, which was difficult in a rapidly evolving environment. Limited geographic reach restricted expansion, while ensuring data security and compliance demanded substantial investment. Disaster recovery was also costly and complex, complicating business continuity. The company needed a low RPO and RTO to minimize downtime and prevent data loss.

Solution

We recommended a hybrid architecture to meet their business requirements, given the presence of multiple application and database servers in their data center. For scalability, we advised transitioning to Amazon EC2 and Amazon RDS. To strengthen security, we implemented AWS best practices, including placing servers in a private subnet, enforcing least privilege with IAM roles, enabling multi-factor authentication, and using CloudTrail for logging and monitoring. We established a disaster recovery setup in a different location with low RTO and RPO to ensure business continuity, protect data, and support growth and agility without the high costs of traditional setups. We guided them in setting up infrastructure following AWS best practices.

Benefits

By adopting AWS, the company gained a flexible, scalable infrastructure that optimizes resource management and minimizes operational overhead. AWS’s global presence enables faster, reliable service delivery to users worldwide, supporting their growth objectives. Enhanced security and compliance features protect sensitive data, while robust disaster recovery ensures business continuity with minimal downtime and data loss. Overall, AWS delivers significant cost savings and agility, allowing the company to focus on innovation and expansion without the constraints of traditional infrastructure.
