Challenge

The Customers infra was hosted in US East (N.Virginia) Region. With the launch of a Region in Mumbai, Customer was keen on migrating the entire set-up to the newly launched Region. The primary concern was ensuring that data and information remained within India, supported through a managed migration approach. This would also provide lower latency to India-based end users.

Solution

The customer leveraged various AWS services like Load Balancing, Amazon RDS databases, Amazon S3 with EC2 instances with internal dependencies, resulting in a complex architecture. Existing infra was already in an AWS account and was supported under our security and compliance service as part of our managed services.. As part of our cloud consulting services, we assessed the environment was Windows-based. The instances were migrated to a new AWS account in the Mumbai region as part of our cloud migration service, with continuous monitoring provided by our NOC services under our managed services. There were no external third-party dependencies. Amazon Route 53 was used for routing internet traffic to the resources, which was also migrated. Amazon CloudFront setup was implemented for accelerating the delivery of static content. Additionally, backup and archival service and disaster recovery services were incorporated to ensure data protection and business continuity. The migration process was completed within a one-week timeframe.

Business Impact

✓ The internal inserts by the team were frozen for a window of 15 mins.
✓ Post Migration, the customer has witnessed enormous benefits.
✓ The customer’s data now resides in India.
✓ The customer can now access data with low latency and a high data transfer rate.
✓ As other AWS regions, the Mumbai region is also designed and built to meet most of the compliance standards.
